Cardiac Physiology group
The aim of our research is to study basic events of cardiac function and understand how the basic control mechanisms become impaired in disease. We particularly focus on myocardial ischemia and the development of cardiac hypertrophy and failure. We employ cell and animal models of disease and approaches from several disciplines, including physiology, cell and molecular biology, biochemistry and functional genomics, to develop and evaluate novel interventions for the inhibition and/or reversal of cardiac dysfunction.
